Took apart my Thinkpad T420 to clean the cooling fan and managed to get it running a whopping 15 ºC (27ºF) cooler! Picture of a naked computer below

It's amazing what dust removal and a little thermal paste can do! Great Jorb!

You've goofed your conversion. 27 degrees F. Absolute temps, you add 32, but not relative ones like a temp difference.

I would just like to point out that while 15°C is equal to 59°F when discussing air temperature, lowering the temperature of something of by 15°C is equivalent to lowering the temperature of that thing by 27°F (59°F - 32°F = 27°F).

Ooops, sorry!

I swear I can't understand Fahrenheit temperatures... Water freezing at 32°F and boiling at 212 °F instead of 0°C and 100°C seems too arbitrary.

Thanks!

Hehe, this is what happens when someone from a country which uses metric system tries to fiddle with imperial units :)

I was seriously tempted of tagging this post as NSFW, but I imagined it would be against Oppo new laws for this type of content, even this not being properly NSFW...

The conversion formula is actually pretty simple:

If we let C be a temperature in Celsius,

And F be that temperature in Fahrenheit,

Then (C * 1.8) + 32 = F when discussing absolute temperature. If you are only comparing relative temperatures, then C * 1.8 = F.
